Postpartum Care Doulas:
During pregnancy, labor and postpartum is a time, like no other time in a womans life, when support, help and reassurance are most important. The word "Doula" comes from the Greek meaning "woman helping woman." Her role is to "Mother the Mother."
After a woman gives birth, it is not unusual to feel tired and overwhelmed by the tasks of caring for a newborn baby, a household, numerous visitors and her own physical postpartum needs.
A postpartum Doula in the home for those first few days or weeks after birth can help ease the transition into motherhood for Mom, baby and Dad. A postpartum Doula provides rest so you can heal. Gentle reassurance and guidance as you gain confidence caring for your newborn. Help with practical chores such as light housekeeping, laundry, errands, and meals so that you can concentrate on regaining your strength and getting to know your new baby.
